Vanadium nitride film made using a thin deposition technique is promising electrode material for micro-supercapacitor applications owing to its high electrical conductivity and volumetric surface capacitance values in aqueous electrolyte. Here, it shown that vanadium films by magnetron sputtering method exhibit remarkable (high retention value after 150 000 cycles), ultra-high rate capability (75% initial at 1.6 V s−1), while providing (≈1.4 F cm−2) very low ageing VN electrodes (no loss performance 13 months).
